Your business NEEDS a PLAN!!

Whether you're just starting out, growing your business or seeking outside help, a well-thought-out business plan is the vehicle you need to get you there.

Why do you want a business plan? You already know the obvious reasons, but there are so many other good reasons to create a business plan that many business owners don't know about. So, just for a change, let's take a look at the less obvious reasons first and finish with the ones you probably already know about. Here are 15 reasons why;

15. Set specific objectives for managers. Good management requires setting specific objectives and then tracking and following up. I'm surprised how many existing businesses manage without a plan. How do they establish what's supposed to happen? In truth, you're really just taking a short cut and planning in your head--and good for you if you can do it--but as your business grows you want to organize and plan better, and communicate the priorities better. Be strategic. Develop a plan; don't just wing it.
14. Share your strategy, priorities and specific action points with your spouse, partner or significant other. Your business life goes by so quickly: a rush of answering phone calls, putting out fires, etc. Don't the other people in your business life need to know what's supposed to be happening? Don't you want them to know?
13. Deal with displacement. Displacement is probably by far the most important practical business concept you've never heard of. It goes like this: "Whatever you do is something else you don't do." Displacement lives at the heart of all small-business strategy. At least most people have never heard of it.
12. Decide whether or not to rent new space. Rent is a new obligation, usually a fixed cost. Do your growth prospects and plans justify taking on this increased fixed cost? Shouldn't that be in your business plan?
11. Hire new people. This is another new obligation (a fixed cost) that increases your risk. How will new people help your business grow and prosper? What exactly are they supposed to be doing? The rationale for hiring should be in your business plan.
10. Decide whether you need new assets, how many, and whether to buy or lease them. Use your business plan to help decide what's going to happen in the long term, which should be an important input to the classic make vs. buy. How long will this important purchase last in your plan?
9. Share and explain business objectives with your management team, employees and new hires. Make selected portions of your business plan part of your new employee training.
8. Develop new business alliances. Use your plan to set targets for new alliances, and selected portions of your plan to communicate with those alliances.
7. Deal with professionals. Share selected highlights or your plans with your attorneys and accountants, and, if this is relevant to you, consultants.
6. Sell your business. Usually the business plan is a very important part of selling the business. Help buyers understand what you have, what it's worth and why they want it.
5. Valuation of the business for formal transactions related to divorce, inheritance, estate planning and tax issues. Valuation is the term for establishing how much your business is worth. Usually that takes a business plan, as well as a professional with experience. The plan tells the valuation expert what your business is doing, when, why and how much that will cost and how much it will produce.
4. Create a new business. Use a plan to establish the right steps to starting a new business, including what you need to do, what resources will be required, and what you expect to happen.
3. Seek investment for a business, whether it's a startup or not. Investors need to see a business plan before they decide whether or not to invest. They'll expect the plan to cover all the main points.
2. Back up a business loan application. Like investors, lenders want to see the plan and will expect the plan to cover the main points.
1. Grow your existing business. Establish strategy and allocate resources according to strategic priority

Commands for healing and prosperity

These are power tools for the Christian, scripture quoted as affirmations that when you speak out loud in Jesus' name, you command your body, your finances and even the demons to do what you say.

Choosing a Marriage Partner

When Christians are seeking a partner in marriage, it is essential for them to seek the mind and will of God.
There can be no better counsel than what is found in the Word of God. This is where the right guide-lines for our direction can be found.

I got an email asking about praying for a life parter. I think this is not only WONDERFUL it should be imperative!  The email asked: "Is it okay to ask God to send me a special companion to share my life? And how will I know that God has sent this person?"

Yes it is OK and God WANTS us to seek him for big decisions and small decisions! You can ask God for every desire of your heart as long as it is in harmony with his will. He hears all sincere prayers and answers them—not always in the way we want them to be answered, but always in the way that is best for us.

However, to be attracted to and find a healthy, mature adult we need to be a healthy mature adult our self. So the key is learning to pray the right prayer; rather than asking God to send you or lead you to the right partner, you need to ask God first and foremost to help you become the right partner.

So the important way to pray is to ask God to help you grow in maturity and that he will then lead you to a healthy, mature person. Furthermore, to grow in maturity takes strong commitment and hard work on our part. There's no such thing as instant maturity.

To the second part of the question-- "how will I know that God has sent this person?"

I believe that God is not a God of confusion! First, realize that the choice is yours. God will give you wisdom and direction if you truly want it, but he won't make your choices for you. That's your responsibility because God isn't codependent. And how will you know this person and you are right or best for each other? To discover this I urge couples to seek not only God's direction in prayer, but also wise competent Christian counseling where, besides intense counseling, both partners are given psychological tests before they ever say, "I do." This is using your head as well as your heart in one of life's most important and critical decisions.

Wedding Budget Tips

First Things First
Before you start any planning whatsoever, make sure you know your exact budget. It's not fun to make big plans and then have to cancel them because you can't afford them---going into your planning with a specific dollar amount in mind can save you a lot of heartache.

Plan for the Reception When Considering Your Wedding Budget
A typical wedding with fifty guests can cost about $15,000 and that when it has been budgeted. Fifty percent of your wedding costs will be invested in the reception. Receptions are where the couple cut their cake, take their first dance and generally celebrate their nuptials. The venue, food, drinks, music, flowers and photography are all just facets of the reception. So sit down with your lists and get ready to mark all the things you absolutely want to have at your wedding and then pay attention to these rules to trim back the cost.

Stretching your wedding budget
Choose a weeknight to get married at your favorite wedding chapel, church or even destination. Rates are much lower for weekday weddings (and this includes not only the locatin, but also the vendors rates) and you get to enjoy the weekend for your honeymoon.

Think Green!
To save money on your flowers, try using more greenery than blooms in your church arrangments or garlands on archways, trellises, etc. Ferns and vines are both inexpensive and easy to obtain, sometimes for free!

Who Pays for What?
Traditionally, here's who pays for what.
Bride and family pay for church, synagogue, sexton, organist, etc.; bride's dress, veil, accessories, and lingerie; arrangements for church and reception, plus bouquets and corsages for bridesmaids and flower girls; all wedding photos and video; bridesmaids' luncheon; shower; all all professional services, including food, drink, decorations, and music; groom's ring; invitations, announcements, and wedding programs; and transportation of bridal party to and from ceremony and reception.
Groom and family pay for marriage license and officiant's fee; groom's outfit; bride's bouquet and going-away corsage, boutonnieres for men, and corsages for mothers and grandmothers; complete honeymoon; the rehearsal dinner; bachelors' dinner; and both of the bride's rings.
That said, no one really goes by those guidelines anymore. Many couples pay for some of the wedding themselves, or figure out the costs and divide it in half, since it's not fair for one family to carry the bulk of the burden.

Budgeting: Phase II
1) If you are like most people, what you want and what you can afford are two separate things. Get together with your fiance and prioritize. Figure out what are the most important elements of your wedding and put your money there.
2) You will be amazed at how different your ideas are from your groom-to-be's. Get ready for your first lesson in matrimonial bliss . . .compromise!
3) No matter how much you "do-it-yourself," you will probably still have to minimize in a couple of areas. Be prepared for this reality.

Don't Go Overboard
It's not a good idea to go over your budget or go into debt in order to pay off your wedding. Beginning a married life together is a difficult transition as it is, and having a debt because of your wedding only adds to the financial problems.

Mum's the Word
If you *really* need to save money and aren't afraid of a little sneakiness, you can do many things (flowers, banquet halls, etc.) and without mentioning the word 'wedding' can save a bundle. Prices go way up when flowers are 'wedding flowers' as opposed to 'party flowers' or 'reunion flowers.'

Cheap Months to Marry
The rate of couples getting married goes *way* down in the winter. With the exception of December (all those holiday weddings!), November thru March aren't big wedding months---you'll spend less money if you get married during the off-season.

There are HUNDREDS OF SO many more tips!! you can add some too if you know of any!!

To Buy or To Rent??!!

Advantages of buying a house:
  • You will increase your asset, if you buy a house.
  • You will have guaranteed appreciation over a time period.
  • You will never have to pay monthly rent.
  • If you buy a house, you will have a sense of ownership, when you have paid all of your loans, you will be the owner of the house.
  • You can easily decorate the home in any way you like and there is no need to take permission from anyone.
Disadvantages of buying a house:
  • You will be responsible for any kind of maintenance and you have to take care of it.
  • If you want to move to another place, you have to think a lot.
  • Property taxes will stand in your way.
  • You have to pay the brokers fee, stamp duty, society charges, insurance cost, registration fee etc.
Advantages of renting a house:
  • You do not have to worry about maintenance; the property owner will take care of it.
  • There is no need to pay any type of property tax.
  • If you do not like the area of your house, you can move to another place at any time you want.
Disadvantages of renting a house:
  • Property owner can increase the rent whenever he wants to.
  • The property owner can send you the notice to vacant the house at any time.
  • You have to pay the rent every month and you can never be the owner.
  • You cannot decorate it in the way you like

Are you better off renting or buying a home? Three tests can help you decide:
The affordability test
  • Can you really afford the loan payments? Ask yourself (and read "8 signs you're ready to buy your first home").
  • Are your total debts manageable? Add all monthly payments for the mortgage, property taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage insurance, plus credit cards, car loan or lease, medical bills, college loans, child support and other debts. Divide the total by your monthly pretax income to get your debt-to-income ratio. MSN Money financial columnist Liz Weston advises keeping it at 36% tops -- ideally, less.
  • Can you make the payments? Look up current interest rates, and then use this affordability calculator to find how much you can reasonably spend (not just borrow).
  • Do you have the credit? You may have to use more restraint than the bank or the government.
The quick-exit test
You can't assume, as buyers did during the housing bubble, that you'll simply sell when you want out. The big picture includes planning your exit.
A big down payment gives you some protection. The more you contribute, the greater your maneuvering room in case you must exit.
But the standard down payment with the popular Federal Housing Administration mortgage, for example, is 3.5%. On a $150,000 home, that means your only equity, at first, is your $5,250 down payment. The typical cost of a sale is 8% of the purchase price, leaving a quick-exit buyer thousands of dollars in the hole even if the home's value stays the same.

Renting, on the other hand, lets you easily pick up and go, if necessary -- to another city, another neighborhood or a cheaper place, or even back with the folks. At the worst, you lose a deposit.

There are no fees, points or interest payments to get in. Amassing a first and last month's rent, plus a damage deposit, can seem like a lot, but it's cheaper than throwing cash into a short sale, ruining your credit in bankruptcy or foreclosure or, as is happening frequently, getting sued by your lender for walking out on the mortgage.

The 'duh' test
Do you honestly know what you're getting into? Many people apparently don't understand their mortgages. You need to understand not what your salesman or lender tells you about a loan, but what the contract says. Get help from a real-estate lawyer or nonprofit housing counselor, someone who won't profit from your purchase.

Now when most people hear the word 'wealth' they translate it to being rich. Truth is, some people will never (yes I said never) be rich. I say that loosely depending on what your definition of rich is.

Some dictionaries would describe wealth as the following:

1. An abundance of valuable material possessions or resources; riches.

2. The state of being rich; affluence.

2. All goods and resources having value in terms of exchange or use.

3. A great amount; a profusion: a wealth of advice.

These all have different meanings and values when presented to different people.

If you really want to make it big at building wealth, there is the much effort you must come by to bring about faith on your own. You have to be accountable for self, it is the only option you have; build your wealth now.

Funny thing is, building wealth for a secure, early retirement is actually very simple – I tell people this all the time. I think its so simple that people miss it-  or they don't possess enough self discipline to obtain it.

Here it is:
1: The amount of money you invest.
2: The growth rate of your money.
3: The amount of time it has to grow.

Unfortunately, not many will be able to accomplish building wealth because it has little to do with understanding these rules – and everything to do with taking effective action!

Basic Retirement Tips:
#1: Have A Plan
A written plan with goals provides the road map and is a necessary first step.

#2: Lifestyle Lags Income
You must control your spending so that your lifestyle lags your income because this will create available capital for your investment activities

#3: Invest In Your Financial Education
Every investment in your financial intelligence will pay dividends for a lifetime. I tell my clients to try to regularly contribute to their financial lifestyle by taking courses, reading and research so that their financial intelligence grows faster than their wealth.

#4: Don’t Procrastinate – Start Today
If you wait just six years to get started and your assets grow at 12% annually you will have half as much money when you retire compared to starting today (assuming equal contributions over working lifetime). If you wait just twelve years you will have only a quarter as much. (Get the point?)

So in summary, here it goes a proven wealth building formula for most self-made millionaires as follow:

(1) Spend less than you earn and save the difference.
(2) Build your financial intelligence while building your wealth so that you can make wiser, more profitable decisions to grow your assets.
(3) Start early because time is the most important factor in compounding wealth.

Know your worth at work!

What amount do you think your knowledge should be worth? how valuable are your skills to your employer or place of employment?

These are things you need to know so that you are paid your worth and not underpaid. A lot of individuals are losing money and earnings because they don't know their worth and how much value they add to the market.

Don't know your worth or what your job is worth in the market place?
.
It is up to you to perform an evaluation of your skills, productivity levels and your contribution to the company. Find out how much people with the same skills and job description are paid by their employers because you need to know the going pay rate in the job market.

Then, ask yourself, ''What range would the company have to pay to find someone like me?"

Your skills and talents are worth something and you want to get paid the fair-market value when a company makes you a salary offer. But what is your market value? Don’t trust the hiring company. Find out for yourself.

You can research your job, your duties, and classification on many online boards to help you pin point what your pay range should be. Basically, you need to be able to answer the question, “What range would the company have to pay to find someone like me?” or how about, “If I don’t take the job what would the company have to offer to find someone as good as me?” Without having answers to questions as these, you won’t be able to substantiate your case for the salary you want.

These sites can help shape your opinion:
  • PayScale.com — collects ongoing salary data directly from visitors.
  • Salary.com — collects salary data from companies and customizes it to location, size of company, etc.
  • CareerJournal.com — has articles about salary trends.
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics — supplies surveys of corporate payroll data and employee questionnaires.
You will not end up with a simple numeric answer, but with an hour or so of effort, search and printouts, you can get a range for the pay-level comparison. Once that’s done, the two other factors above should be calculated.

Don't let your work go UNDERvalued!!

Resume Tips

Even in this Hi Tech world, a quality resume is essential to your job search.

Did you know...
  • There are millions of jobs listed across the top career sites?
  • The top 50 job sites are searched by 1.5 million employers and recruiters daily?
  • According to a recent poll by the Society for Human Resource Management, 88% of human resource professionals now rely on the Internet to fill positions open in their organizations?
WHY POST TO ALL TOP JOB SITES?
To be in all the right places at all the right times! ESPECIALLY in today's job market which is more competitive than ever.
While many companies search the largest career sites, increasingly employers and recruiters are looking for alternative sites as well to find the best candidates. It's important you show up on all of them!
DOES IT REALLY WORK?
It is very common that most hiring managers use the internet to find their future employees. Of course, when there are more jobs available in the market, your chances are better of finding a job faster. However, if you are searching for jobs in a weak job market, then it's even more important that you give yourself a competitive advantage and appear EVERYWHERE!

1. Match Your Resume to the Job
When  you’re posting your resume in a job board’s resume database, research as many job ads in your target career field for typical requirements and keywords as your can. The old generic resume has nearly dropped dead and is out dated!

2. Choose Flattering Format
This speaks VOLUMES! Please do not add picture art, or any other wording format other thatn the general ones you have used when submitting college essays etc.

3. Sell, Don’t Tell
Forget the naming-your-previous-responsibilities routine. Even if you list your responsibilities for a specific job, that doesn’t assure the recruiter you met your responsibility or the result of your efforts was worth the money someone paid you. Don’t be stingy with your accomplishments. Always answer the “So what?” question for each accomplishment. The hiring sharks are thinking “Who cares?” or “What’s in it for me?” Tell them!

4. Prove Your Claims
A idea on where to begin would be backing up your claims of skills and accomplishments is measuring them with numbers, percentages, and dollar amounts.
Compare the following statements. Which is the most convincing?
  • Simple Ways to Be More Popular OR 50 Simple Ways to Be More Popular
  • Computers on Sale OR Computers 40% Off
  • Contructed a design company plan to replace outside plan at great savings OR Designed $20 million self-insured health plan, saving estimated $3 million per year over previous external plan.

5. Use Bulleted Style for Easy Reading
Using one- or two-liners opens up your resume with white space, making it more appealing to read. Big blocks of text suffocate readers. Let your words breathe.

These are just a few tips I've learned over the years. Let your resume get you the interview- After you land the interview, sell your CHARM! =)

Be Blessed!

Learn to Trust Him MORE!!

Many times we as humans feel as though it is our job to control our life. When in actuality, we are to pray and see what God says concerning our life.

In 2 Corinthians 9:8, we're told, "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

In Philippians 4:6, we read "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." While we lie awake, unable to sleep because of our worry and distress, God is waiting for our request. He is waiting for our prayer and petition so that He can be God and all we have to do after praying is wait and be patient, AND REST!!

He knows what we want, what we need and the difference between the two. In Isaiah 41:13, He says, "For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Note that He offers His help. God's help can come in many ways, shapes, and forms. How often have you gone through trials only to look back some time later and realize that you would never have believe things would work out that way? Maybe one of the reasons we have a hard time giving it up to God is because we will have to live in His answer instead of just having an answer given to us. That does take great trust. But God is worthy of great trust.

As God said in Jeremiah 32:27 "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?"
Do you believe that? So why don't we believe he has and knows the plans for our future?

God's way is different. God says that we will only SEE, when we first BELIEVE! The "believing" comes first. We must believe that God WILL do what He has already promised to do. Only then will we see the promise fulfilled

So, how do we get to know God so well that we can trust Him with our life? How do we develop that trust in God? How do we get to KNOW Him that well?
There is only ONE way:

Daily Bible study and prayer!

What is a woman of Purpose?

I myself sometimes wonder, "Who am I? Why am I here?" All the while naturally, society will stress wealth, success, and the pursuit of pleasure, the truth is that we are created by God in His image, and our fulfillment is found in pursuing His purposes for us.
